Be a watchful traveler by learning about tracks and scats (footprints and poo!), burrows and other marks left by animals. Try some bird-watching and bird ID. Bring binoculars along if you have them!


This activity is suitable for children aged 6-12, who must be accompanied by a parent or guardian aged 18 or over.


Please bring binoculars if you have them, water, sunscreen, insect repellent, and wear enclosed shoes and clothing appropriate for the weather. We may need to wade through Campbells Creek to get to the track (depending on the conditions) so be prepared to get wet feet.


Toilets and drinking water located close by at the foreshore and shops in Port Campbell.

Healthy Habitats Treasure Hunt 14 January 2020 – Port Campbell

Explore the secret life of the plants and animals around us. Discover how different plants and animals survive through what they eat, where they live, their behaviours and how they interact.


This activity is suitable for children aged 6-12, who must be accompanied by a parent or guardian aged 18 or over.

LOCATION: The activity will be held beside the Gellibrand River. Activity meeting point is located down beside the Gellibrand River at the Picnic Area and boat ramp. On Old Coach Road right at the Gellibrand River bridge. Preferred parking is in Princetown with a short walk down along the Princetown Wetlands boardwalk (approx. 300m). There is some parking located at the site. Old Coach Rd is off the Great Ocean Road near Princetown. Follow the signs to the Princetown Recreational Reserve and Camping Ground. Please DO NOT attempt to access the site from the other end of Old Coach Road as that section is a 4WD track.

Junior Rangers Tread Lightly, Hoodies Nesting 21 January 2020 – Mornington Peninsular Park


Join a Ranger on a guided walk through Hooded Plover territory. These endangered shorebirds live and breed on our ocean beaches throughout Southern Australia. Learn the plight of the plover, including its habitat, breeding cycle, threats, population monitoring and why they need our protection. With less than 600 Hooded Plovers left in all of Victoria…let’s tread carefully.

Junior Rangers Discovery Bushwalk 10 January 2020 – Great Otway National Park

 


Come on a short discovery walk starting and finishing at the Blanket Leaf Picnic Ground, just north of Lorne.  We will explore the majestic wet sclerophyll forest underneath the towering  trees and tall tree ferns and discover some of the natural treasures of the Otways.


This walk is for Junior Rangers aged between 6 and 12 years old who must be accompanied by a parent or guardian over 18 years of age.  It is not suitable for prams.


Please bring a hat, sunscreen, drinking water and wear clothing appropriate to conditions including sturdy footwear (No thongs or bare feet). If you have any binoculars, feel free to bring them along.
