Marine Care Ricketts Point present: Foreshore and Rockpool Ramble.


What curious creatures make the rockpools their home? Discover the amazing diversity in our intertidal zone.


With the help of our local guides, explore the treasures left on the sandy shore by the receding tide, followed by a rockpool ramble to search for the unique marine animals that call this rocky intertidal environment home.


A one-hour fifteen minute walk and talk. Terrain: Easy – medium, uneven surfaces, on sand and rock shelves, wet/dry.


Please arrive at 9.45am, ready for a 10am start

This event is suitable for all ages. Children under 14 years of age must be supervised by an accompanying adult.

What to Bring…



  • Wear a broad-brimmed hat and sunscreen

  • Soft, closed toe footwear – ie sandshoes. Shoes suitable for wading/walking on reef. No thongs.

  • Shorts preferred or prepare for wet trouser legs.

  • Bottle of water

  • Fly repellent

  • Snacks, and/or a picnic lunch to enjoy on the foreshore after the activity

  • a happy disposition, an inquisitive nature and a smile!


 Where to meet…


Bayside beach carpark B18 – head south towards Beaumaris Life Saving Club (blue and yellow building) , Ricketts Point.


Meet on the grass outside the Beaumaris Life Saving Club.


Parking ticket or Bayside Parking Permit required in beach carpark. Alternatively, use free street parking or public transport.

This Event is suitable for all ages. Children under 18 years must be accompanied by a supervising adult.





What to Bring…

 

Suitable clothing for the weather conditions – be sun smart




  • Sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat

  • Bottle of water

  • Food eg. snacks

  • Sturdy Shoes no thongs

  • A happy disposition, an inquisitive nature and a smile!

Discover life in the intertidal zone! Find out who and what lives on our unique rocky shores. Join a ranger and check out the colourful and strange looking creatures lurking in the rockpools of coastal Victoria.


This activity is suitable for children aged 6-12, who must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.


Please bring water, sunscreen, insect repellent and wear suitable clothing and enclosed shoes that can get wet, like gumboots or wetsuit booties.


Activities may be rescheduled, changed or cancelled due to adverse weather or for emergency response.


Parking is available on Rifle Range Drive, Williamstown. Please wear gumboots or shoes you don’t mind getting wet. No thongs or bare feet please.

Join a Parks Victoria Ranger and discover the plants and animals that live on our rocky shores. A look at how animals survive in this extreme environment.


This activity is suitable for children aged 6-12, who must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.


Please bring water, sunscreen, insect repellent and wear enclosed shoes that can get wet (thongs not accepted), sunhat and clothing appropriate for the weather (e.g. rain jacket, beanie).


Activities may be rescheduled, changed or cancelled due to adverse weather or for emergency response.


Please meet the Ranger at the top of staircase in the car park (loop) at the end of Bluff Road, Barwon Heads.


Please note that this event may be cancelled in case of an emergency.

Activities may be rescheduled, changed or cancelled due to adverse weather or for emergency response.


Bayside City Council parking fees apply in the Ricketts Point car park. Entrance and ticket machine are near the Ricketts Point Teahouse.


Meet at the Beaumaris Life Saving Club. Note: Please do not go to the Beaumaris Yacht Club or the Mentone Lifesaving Club.
