Activity: Mini Marine Documentary
Ages: Primary school and up
This activity will allow participants to leave with a short video (2-3 minutes) capturing the marine environment, all created using your smartphone (and gopro/wi-fi enabled camera if you have one). Starts with a short intro to the basics of videography and photography using a smartphone (changing settings, slow-mo, picking a story to tell, etc), make sure everyone has the app (approx. 20 minutes). Then go for a walk along a coastal trail, beach or rock pool where Tarryn will point out interesting oceanographic processes/ecology, encourage people to get a variety of photos and short clips with varying shot angles (approx. 30 minutes). At the end of the walk, spend approx. 30 minutes editing and participants can share their videos with each other/post online etc.
This event is suitable for anyone aged primary school and up. Children under 18 years must be accompanied by a supervising adult.
